User Guide

A feature-by-feature reference for using RiskRegisterPro

Dashboard

Your at-a-glance view of organizational risk.

  • •See your total risk count broken down by rating (Critical, High, Medium, Low, Minimal)
  • •Track the number of active controls currently protecting your organization
  • •Monitor pending mitigation actions that still need attention
  • •Spot risk trends over time so you can catch emerging problems early
Risks

Create, score, and track the risks facing your organization.

  • •Click 'Add Risk' to open the risk form: title, description, category, and owner are required
  • •Rate Inherent Likelihood and Inherent Impact on a 1-5 scale — the system multiplies them into a score (1-25)
  • •Scores map to a rating automatically: 20-25 Critical, 15-19 High, 10-14 Medium, 5-9 Low, 1-4 Minimal
  • •A risk moves through statuses over its life: Identified → Assessed → Mitigating → Monitoring → Closed (or Accepted, if you choose to accept the risk instead of mitigating it)
  • •Once you link Controls to a risk, its Residual score updates automatically to reflect how much those controls reduce the original exposure
  • •Use the History tab on a risk to see every past assessment and how the score has changed over time
Controls

Define the safeguards that reduce your risk exposure.

  • •Controls come in four types: Preventive (stops a risk from occurring), Detective (identifies when it occurs), Corrective (fixes issues afterward), and Directive (guides behavior to reduce risk)
  • •Open a control and use 'Link to Risk' to attach it to one or more risks, setting a mitigation percentage for each
  • •One control can be reused across multiple risks, each with its own independent mitigation percentage
  • •Track effectiveness rating and test frequency so you know when a control is due for review
Mitigations

Plan and track the action items that reduce a risk over time.

  • •From a risk's detail page, click 'Add Mitigation' to create an action plan with an owner, priority, and target completion date
  • •Priority levels — Critical, High, Medium, Low — help you decide what to work on first
  • •Move a mitigation through its lifecycle: Planned → In Progress → Completed
  • •Each mitigation shows its owner so accountability is clear at a glance
Reports

Turn your risk register into insights you can share.

  • •The Executive Summary gives leadership a quick read on overall risk posture

  • •Every create, update, delete, export, and share action is recorded with the user, timestamp, and what changed
  • •Only organization admins and owners can view the Audit Log
  • •Visible to organization admins and owners on any plan — it's built for compliance and accountability reporting
  • •Filter by user, action type, or entity to find a specific change quickly
